There they were in front of their handcrafted pastel arches with the rolling hills of Oklahoma laid a perfect backdrop to what would become a most memorable ceremony. And it would’ve been any other chilly windy Sunday in January if it weren’t for Dylan and Kourtney radiating with excitement. This moment was an achievement and a celebration of new life and love, and the looks and vows they exchanged made the crowd forget all about a brisk north wind or anything else. From that moment on, everyone knew they, too, were going to have an amazing evening. That’s what guests want, to celebrate life and have fun! Almost every guest was arriving at Hudson Springs for the first time since it was built, and everyone was eager to enjoy a wedding reception as they did in the old times, but in this new Oklahoma venue.

It didn’t just happen on its own. Weddings have never just happened, but this was also a “covid” wedding, complete with its own turbulent moments of “will they show, can we still, won’t they say” and more. Dylan and Kourtney, and Kourtney’s parents, had to take quick action to produce this wedding and reception, during a pandemic, with roughly 6 weeks to spare.
Kourtney’s parents were well on their way to producing a fantastic wedding and they just needed help making sure all the pieces were in place so they could enjoy their daughter’s wedding. So when we got the call, we were thrilled to offer what we could.
For the ceremony rehearsal, we worked with the officiant to inform and guide the wedding party so they knew what to think about and prepare for. Leading the rehearsal helps us get to know the wedding party and also help the couple not have to do the hard work of leading everyone while also being the center of attention.
At the ceremony the next day, we were guests in the audience while controlling the audio and music through an iPad. This let us direct the wedding party to make sure everyone was confident and poised.
After the stellar ceremony, it was time to celebrate, which meant welcoming guests, introducing myself, informing guests of what to expect and what to do while Kourtney and Dylan were taking photos outside.
Once it was time for the grand entrance, the wedding party was ready to be let loose, and Kourtney and Dylan were ready to celebrate! And celebrate they did! The toasts were sincere and sweet, if not funny and lighthearted. Guests enjoyed the entire evening with dancing and singing, laughing, and making memories. Kourtney and Dylan had a dream wedding and reception and they didn’t invest a small fortune.
Now that their wedding is in the history books, Kourtney and Dylan can focus on their future together. They have priceless photos from Chelsea Littleton Photography and they have photo booth images saved to share and help retell their stories. If they had planned a longer engagement, the pending questions and nervous anxiety would still be part of their every day…or at least Kourtney’s.
It’s great to have a long engagement and we encourage you to enjoy that time no matter how long your engagement is. Like everything in life, it’s only a season and will end too soon. But, you don’t need a long engagement to have a spectacular wedding experience. All you need is the right people on your wedding team!! If you have questions about your wedding plans, we are always happy to help couples make the most of their once-in-a-lifetime experience.
