The amount of love poured into Huy and Thanh throughout their wedding was special to watch. It was clear they were thick as thieves, the whole wedding party, but especially those two. Huy was confident and exuded confidence that was refreshing and put you at ease. Thanh’s soft demeanor and beauty made you instantly love looking and listening to her. Their wedding reception at the Oklahoma History Center was set to be epic.
“Chasen walked us through the entire wedding music process from start to finish. He has an excellent demeanor, always calm and collected. Our interview process differed from a majority of the dj’s in okc and he stood out with his professionalism and candor.” Huy Le (Groom)
I first met Huy and Thanh months before at Hank’s Coffee in Midtown OKC. Thankfully, it had already been set up by Sarah and Jade of June Sixteenth Events. Sarah and Jade had designed an incredible layout at the Oklahoma History Center. Tall pillars, floral arrangements and fabric that I had never seen before. They needed help getting the lighting done right, and they also wanted to add the Sparktacular Effect for a WOW factor. Everything sounded fantastic. What also sounded great was how confident and chill this couple was.
Huy and Thanh knew that they wanted to honor their families and the traditions of their Vietnamese culture at the wedding and reception. They also wanted to celebrate their uniqueness throughout the wedding weekend. For instance, growing up, Huy was a huge Super Mario Bros. fan. The night before their big day, they had their rehearsal dinner at Vanessa House, an awesome 80s vibe Beer Brewery in the heart of Oklahoma City. They wanted a chill DJ vibe with a microphone for toasts so I got to be there, too. Sticking true to Huy’s roots, the rehearsal dinner theme was all Super Mario! Sarah and Jade had special decorations made just for that night and worked with Opulent Couture to create this really cool fluorescent balloon structure and we washed the whole room with ultra-violet UV “black light”. To take it up a notch, I made this fun little video and projected it on the wall for guests to see as they entered.
In Oklahoma, attending a Vietnamese wedding is a celebration that no one forgets…and the more the better. The traditions are both seen and unseen, many are familiar with most weddings in Oklahoma. Because Huy and Thanh were so engaged in the process. The ceremony was held earlier in the day, so guests arrived after an afternoon break.
The music as guests arrive into the Oklahoma History Center was a great mix of traditional Vietnamese and traditional wedding cocktail music.
The grand entrance of the whole wedding party was full of fanfare and music.
Huy took the microphone and honored his bride and her family, and then he honored his own family and thanked everyone for being there.
A special spokesperson shared introductions of the families on behalf of Huy and Thanh.
A blessing was shared over the couple and the meal by the officiant.
The meal was at least 10 courses, and served by Hy Palace! They are one of a select few caterers who specialize in traditional Vietnamese wedding receptions.
It is customary to change into different gowns. When it was time for the traditional table visits, Huy wore a red áo gấm and Thanh changed into and awesome áo dài .
Table toasts gave guests a chance to share time with the happy couple. The newlyweds went table to table receiving gifts and blessings and a toast of whichever beverage the table prefers. Some beverages were more potent than others.
Dancing!!! Theirs was a first dance to beat!
And the venue made for a great dancing backdrop. The guests had an amazing time! It really was a night to remember forever!
“Chasen was our DJ and walked us through the entire wedding music process from start to finish. He has an excellent demeanor, always calm and collected. Our interview process differed from a majority of the dj’s in okc and he stood out with his professionalism and candor. He offered music, emcee, lighting, and photobooth services. Had an excellent feel for what the crowd wanted and needed. 100% recommend him for your music and wedding needs.”
